Temple

Brian

A very chilly night… 1 degree, to be exact… was put down by a very warm crowd at The Temple. Quite an eclectic mix of people, I would say, and enthusiastic to say the least! Many thanks to Bob and Mark. Not only do they know how to tell a story, they really know how to make a band feel comfortable. Great accommodations last night, thanks guys.

Over the next few weeks we’ll be sifting through recordings of the last few shows and doing a little writing as well. We’re also starting to book spring and summer events. Thanks again for all of your support, and we’ll see you out and about soon!

Sportsmen’s Tavern 1/23/10

Brian

Remarkable show at the Sportsman’s in Buffalo. What a great place to see and play music, with a great vibe and the friendliest people you could meet. We has a great time and can’t wait to be back. The Temple, in Canandaigua, is coming up next!

January 2010

Brian

Happy New Year everyone! We’ve some some great things since our last post. Early December shows at the Roost and Johnny’s (a new room for this band, and a great time was had…. we’ll be back) were followed by the purchase of a new mixing console. We’ll be recording all of our upcoming shows with it and splicing together a “best of” live album. The first installment was recorded at the sold-out holiday show at Lock’s. Thank you to everyone who spent some holiday time with us!

We’re gearing up for two shows this month, starting with our debut at The Sportsman’s in Buffalo. We know some great musicians who hang here, notably our good friends Dee Adams, Alan Whitney, Leroy Townes, and Steve Woolsey. Heck, this place has been offering the best in local, regional, and national entertainment for 100 years. We’re honored to be coming to play. We’ll be there on the 23rd.

On 1/30 we’ll make a long awaited return to Canandaigua when we take the stage at the Temple. I used to hang at the Temple years ago… haven’t set foot in it since. I checked it out last week and I loved what I saw. It’s got that same Temple vibe but its more hip, classy, and definitely built for bands. Nice job, Bob. Looking forward to being there.

Feel free to keep posting your suggestions for a live album, we’ll be recording gigs for the next few months. For that matter, reply on any of these blog updates. Love to hear from ya! Mean it.

Lastly, a big shout out to our boy Chad and his family, whose boy Jason has checked out fine. God bless…

Abilene

Mike

Thanks to all who came out to our show at Abilene in Rochester this past Friday. And thanks to the kindly patrons—it’s always great to make new friends. To those who haven’t had a chance to check out Abilene, it’s highly recommended. There is a continuous flow of top-notch Americana, Alt.Country Folk and Blues acts that come through there every week. Check it out.

A shout out to Jon Itkin, who kicked things off with a fantastic solo acoustic set. Jon moved back to Rochester from NYC earlier in the year, and what a great addition to the regional music scene he makes. Crafty lyrics, a deep sonorous vocal style, and heartfelt delivery. Check out one of Jon’s shows or recordings soon.

Many thanks to Nick Young, who put the show together. Unfortunately he was not able to perform, because of an ongoing battle with that nasty-ass H1N1. Nick is building his energy back up for his road trip back down to Nashville to continue work on his new CD. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for details on the release—Nick is an incredible songwriting talent and you don’t want to miss this new CD.

Oh, and thanks again to Scott Regan, host of “Open Tunings” on WRUR 88.5FM. We had a lot of fun on his Thursday show, and we hope to be back on the air again soon.

Park Bench = fun times

Brian

It’s not all the time that we play a new room and come away feeling as good as we did last Saturday. Thanks to Tony, Glen, and the staff at The Park Bench, Monroe Ave, Rochester. They made us feel right at home and our following really dug the place. We’ll post future dates there as soon as we get them.

This coming Saturday is Abilene, on Liberty Pole way. Coming soon is Johnny’s on Culver Rd and also a live taping at Lock’s Stock & Barrel, down in the Bristol Hills, Rt64. Some other surprises are coming along as well, including some new songs we’ve been working on. Thanks for all of your support!

Live Album Survey!

Blue Jimmy

We’re planning on releasing a live album! Recording is slated for December 26th at Lock’s Stock & Barell, which is just a stone’s throw from Bristol Mountain Ski Resort. If last year’s Christmas show at Lock’s is any indication, this year’s show will be a wild one for sure.

Here’s the really cool part: we want YOU to pick the songs!

2 Nights, 2 New Venues

Brian

We’re appearing at two new rooms in the next two weekends! This Saturday night we’ll be at the newly moved and renovated Park Bench, on Monroe Ave. People are saying great things about this room and we’re looking forward to playing in the Monroe Ave area again.

Abilene, on Liberty Pole Way, has taken its place as one of Rochester’s foremost Americana music rooms. Their stable of regular bands is Rochester’s who’s-who of country/folk/rock. It’s got a very unique vibe and layout, and we’re excited to debut there on November 20th.

See you there!
